With hundreds of millions of pounds of public sector contracts waiting to be won by SMEs across Scotland, Moray Chamber of Commerce's Annual Business Summit will this year examine how local businesses can win a greater share of the public sector bids on offer.
With so many companies chasing the prize, you've got to be in it to win it!
We'll hear from Angus Macfarlane, Chief Executive of Hub North Scotland - a new joint venture company formed between the public and private sectors, set up to deliver £435 million of community facilities over the next ten years - on what the new initiative for local businesses.
There are already several projects in development across the north east, including a new £5.5 million Forres Health Centre, the £19 million Aberdeen Health Village, a new £1.6 million dental practice for Fraserburgh, and a £12 million Criminal Justice Facility for Grampian Police. On our doorstep they will be delivering the new Elgin High School a project worth £21 million.
Diane Beattie, responsible for procurements at The Moray Council, will give advice on how to navigate the local authority's procurement process, while David Oxley, HIE Area Manager for Moray, will discuss funding opportunities from HIE, including the newly launched £1 million EDGE initiative designed to help accelerate innovative business ideas.
We'll also hear from Jim Royan, Chair of the Moray Economic Partnership which will support the development of the Moray Economic Strategy launched last week by Finance Secretary John Swinney MSP, on how to develop the Moray economy in a way which is less reliant on the public sector.
The Moray Chamber of Commerce Business Summit will be hosted by broadcaster Gary Robertson and will be held at Horizon Scotland, Forres Enterprise Park.
