2018 is off to a flying start and here at the Chamber it feels like our feet haven’t yet touched the ground. So far the number of positive celebrations and collaborations that have come our way is overwhelming and has really set the tone for the rest of the year.
After the success of our GDPR event, it is great to be able to hold yet another event on this topic with the same fantastic collaborative work from our members. This event will issue our community with the information and tools that it needs going forward. The GDPR event has set a fantastic example for events for the rest of the year. With a whole host of available dates for events published on our website it is encouraging our members to see the scope and benefits of holding events with us. The opportunity to celebrate the vast range of services and products that our members offer really meets the objectives of what the Chamber is here to do.
Last week we attended the sponsorship event of Piping at Forres which is celebrating all things Moray with fantastic milestones, anniversaries and collaborations. Piping at Forres is sadly in its last year at its Forres home, but the positive and proactive work of Forres Events Ltd has turned this around to make it the biggest and best Piping event yet. 2018 will celebrate all that the event has achieved over the years and showcase all that Moray has to offer. The principal sponsor of Piping at Forres is Benromach, who are not only celebrating their most successful year yet, but also the distillery’s 120th birthday. And to top this all off, Alan James of AJ Engineering has been chosen as the Chieftain of this year’s event after years of getting hands on with Piping at Forres, a really well deserved appointment.
When we discovered all these factors that were making Piping at Forres happen this year, it felt like cause for celebration in itself. Our members working together so closely to create an event that brings so much to the region is music to our ears. We can’t wait for the event itself and we have great confidence in its success this year.
Another huge celebration for Moray Chamber is the imminent return of our CEO, Sarah Medcraf. Sarah is returning to the office in February and we couldn’t be happier. After leaving us with the foundations to succeed last April, we have had many achievements and worked through lots of change. The return of Sarah sets us on the journey to grow. The team has grown from 2 to 3 members of staff and we are bursting with ideas on how to grow the Chamber as well. Everything that we do is for our members and we think we have a good idea of what our community wants from us. If you have any ideas of how we can grow to benefit you then please, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our niche, as a smaller chamber, is our flexibility and reactiveness. The term ‘there’s no such thing as a bad idea’ couldn’t be truer in our office, so if there’s any way that you feel we can adapt to the current business environment then we are all ears.
We wish all our members the best for 2018, and hope that you are as excited to celebrate and grow as we are.
