Chambers of Commerce perform several functions for their members. They’re networking forums – business clubs – facilitating the making of contacts and the sharing of knowledge and experience. They provide services for members such as training, mentor matching, events, learning opportunities and business support. Members can offer discounted professional services to fellow members. The Chamber also gathers a collective business view with a view to influencing decision making that will affect that local business community.

Moray Chamber of Commerce is an organisation that’s here for every size of business, from those that export their products around the world, to national chains, to the smallest local enterprise. The organisation as it is today is focused on having a fresh outlook on business and delivering a dynamic, supportive, informative and professional service to every one of its members.

We’re currently looking for the right person to become our new Engagement & Development Coordinator.

This full-time job is all about networking and growing business relationships. The role presents an ideal opportunity for someone who is confident, self-motivated and passionate about Moray Speyside. You’ll be out and about on a regular basis, meeting representatives and leaders from a wide range of Moray businesses.  All of our members are important to us and in many cases, you will be their first and most regular point of contact for any engagement.

The size and scope of this role is not limited to its current remit. We are aiming to increase our membership in the coming years and your role will be central to this process. So in essence, you have the ability to grow your own future!

Our new team member will have experience in a business environment and must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the current business climate and key issues that may affect our members. You will be a strong ‘people person’. You’ll be someone who’s confident to pick up the phone, answer questions and go out and about around Moray, sharing the benefits of Chamber Membership.

But it’s not all down to you, don’t worry. You’ll also be the kind of person to know when to ask for advice from your colleagues with more experience or knowledge.

We’re looking for someone who has sound literacy skills and competence using Microsoft Office packages, as well as familiarity with and ability to use all the social media channels (we’ll also ask you to go old school, keeping a regular eye on the newspapers and industry press.)

You’ll attend and take minutes at director level meetings and you’ll plan and execute our exciting annual calendar of events.  You’ll gather regular feedback from members so that next year’s calendar of events can be even more tailored to member’s interests. You’ll work with the members to learn their needs so you can develop and deliver a range of training courses as part of our package.

Maybe most importantly, we’ll look to you to make sure that our existing members make the most of what we have to offer as a Chamber, including attending our sessions, meeting with other members and using the range of services we provide. There is some events and meetings out with the normal working day, with some early mornings and evening working required on occasion. You’ll require a driving license and use of your own vehicle.

If you already have WordPress experience, then that’s an advantage as you’ll be looking after our website. However, don’t let lack of training stand in the way of your application as we’re happy to help you grow too.

We’re a small but energetic, friendly team based in Elgin and we work closely together with many stakeholders across the region and you will get to know them pretty quickly.

Salary £22,000 – £24,000 pa
Term: 2-year contract, with the potential of extension
Holidays: 25 days + 8 public holidays
