MGF 5 | The Cost of Space: What You Need to Know About Leases & Rates

12PM-1:30PM • Moray Chamber of Commerce, Alexander Fleming House, 8 Southfield Drive, Elgin, IV30 6GR

Whether you are a landlord or tenant, understanding your rights and obligations under a commercial lease is essential. This session will guide you through the key stages of a lease - from heads of terms and negotiation through to termination and dilapidations - highlighting the advantages, risks and common pitfalls to watch out for.

The event will also cover non-domestic rates and the reliefs available to businesses, including what has changed following the April 2026 rates revaluation. Our speakers will outline the paperwork and requirements property owners and tenants need to be aware of, offering practical guidance to help you stay compliant and make informed decisions.

Ideal for commercial property owners, tenants and business managers, this session provides straightforward, practical insight into two critical areas affecting business premises.

Hosted by Henrietta Talbot and Anna Rogers:

Henrietta Talbot is a partner at law firm Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP, which is part of the Irwin Mitchell legal group. Henrietta is a land and property lawyer with over 13 years of experience.  Henrietta is based in Moray but operates over the whole of Scotland with a varied base of clients.
