TRAINING | Emergency First Aid at Work

The WorkSafe Emergency First Aid at Work programme meets the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive for first aiders working in low-risk environments (eg offices, shops, residential care settings etc). The qualification will equip the first aider with skills to be able to confidently undertake emergency first aid if someone becomes ill or injured at work and consists of 6 hours of instructor led tuition with the emphasis on practical application of first aid skills. This course is also suitable for anyone who needs to renew their emergency at work first aid certificate.

Date: 12th September
Time: 9am to 4pm
Venue: Moray Sports Centre (Google maps)

Time Frame: 1 day (6 hours)
Cost: £54 per person (MCC Member discount)
Equipment provided by participant: Appropriate clothing for any outdoor work (hat, gloves, coat, waterproofs, sturdy shoes), drinks, snacks and lunch

Spaces are limited to TWELVE and open to members of Moray Chamber of Commerce only.

The content covers the basic essentials required to provide emergency care to a patient. Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:

• The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs.
• The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient.
• The recognition and treatment of a person in seizure.
• The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• The ability to recognise and safely treat a patient who is choking.
• The ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding.
• The keeping of simple records following an accident at work.

Successful candidates will be awarded a qualification in Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, valid for 3 years and certificated by WorkSafe Training Systems.

For environmental reasons, Worksafe courses are now digital. You will be supplied a link nearer the time with the course resources, and we will have reference books available. Don't forget to sign up for the WorkSafe App which enables you to view your certificate on your electronic device and provides access to first aid knowledge, videos and emergency procedures. NB: The HSE recommend that all workplace first aiders receive annual refresher training in first aid techniques whilst holding this qualification.

Important Course Information:
There may be some elements of outdoor scenario work on this course, so please make sure you are dressed warmly and have the appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear for the weather conditions.
