Speyside Couriers Ltd

Please name the main purpose of your business.
As a courier company Speyside Couriers Ltd is focused on delivering businesses products and goods using the highest possible customer service and client satisfaction.

Our main purpose is to facilitate businesses within the Moray area and much further afield to get their products to their customers in the most reliable and efficient a way as possible.

Final-mile, local or national, special deliveries, stock movement, store relocation, online delivery. We are ready and able to assist as best we can for any of the needs of the businesses in Moray.

What are the benefits to operating in Moray?
The benefits of operating in Moray must be our beautiful landscape and diverse businesses. Some days you cannot beat the travel that is included with our work. Wonderful vistas and great people passionate about their work as we help them spread that passion to their customers.

How do you connect to your local customers?
Locally we are known in our regular delivery areas for our customer service and above and beyond attitude, we like to make ourselves known face to face with the customers we are delivering to or to the clients we deliver on behalf of. We are on Facebook and LinkedIn, but you just can’t beat that personal touch, chat or helping hand that we can provide in person.

Why are you part of Moray Chamber of Commerce?
We feel that the local Moray Chamber of Commerce is a great place for businesses to get to know of one another as well as offer support to each other when needed. It’s a great place for fledgling businesses to network and take advantage of the wealth of knowledge and services Sarah and her team at the Moray Chamber have to offer. Being a part of the Chamber feels, to us, an important part of knowing what is happening locally in the business world.

What are you most proud of?
We are proud of many things we have achieved in our short years as a business, but we are still most proud of the level of service and compassion we had during the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic. We were classed as Key workers and kept the parcels flowing throughout some of the most unsettling and unpredictable times in business. Our little business grew to new heights in this time and we have met some wonderful people, now colleagues, along the way.

We went out of our way often during the pandemic to ensure that vulnerable customers, those affected by Covid and those isolated by it were met with a smile, accommodated and looked after so that they still received their items when it was most difficult to do so. It taught us a lot about who we are and what we wanted to be as a business.

Finally, name one misconception that people have about your business.
The most common misconception about the courier industry is that it is inexpensive to send a parcel, sadly for us small businesses we are struggling against the giants of the industry who can afford to ship parcels up and down the country for mere pounds. In reality, that is only because of the shear volume of which they are transporting. More often than not with these large companies they favour volume over service and it is almost impossible to get in touch with them.

We say this, “you get what you pay for”, we offer rates that may be slightly higher than that of the larger companies, but we offer a personal service of intuitive customer service and client requirements. We try to compete with the mainstream postal services for pricing but sadly we do not have the infrastructure to do so.
