Summer Update from Elgin Sports Community Trust
- ESCT is part of the Summer of Sport 2026 - a £20 million investment from the Scottish Government to deliver free and low-cost activities for children and young people across Scotland. ESCT received funding to deliver the Boccia Roadshow and Festival 2026 from August to October in selected schools, targeting P5-7 classes with at least one pupil who utilises the Enhanced Provision unit. Each school will receive 6 weeks of Boccia coaching finishing with an inter-school festival. The aim of the project is to provide an inclusive physical activity opportunity for pupils with ASN to participate alongside their classmates, increase awareness and understanding of inclusive sport in schools, and encourage continued access to inclusive sport beyond the funding period.
- ESCT kicked off the FIFA World Cup excitement with a 5-a-side World Cup tournament. Well done to the 8 participating teams and our winners Spain, who won 4-3, following a gripping final against Scotland. Join ESCT for another fun 5-a-side tournament during our 5th Anniversary event on 15th August.
- The Walton 5-a-side group organised a football tournament in memory of one of their players and dear friends, Steve Pugh. ESCT are grateful for the generosity and support of the Pugh family, who chose ESCT as their beneficiary charity. The tournament was a huge success and a fitting tribute to a much-loved teammate and friend.
- ESCT are delivering KickStart Football for 2-5 years olds throughout the summer holidays, starting the 4th July. The programme will develop basic motor skills and coordination in a fun, football environment. To get more information or sign your child up, please contact ESCT.
- With the 5th Anniversary of ESCT coming up, we are looking for organisations interested in running a stall at the event. Additionally, we are looking for a medal sponsor for the 5-a-side tournament held during this event with the tournament being named after the sponsor. Please contact esctenquiries@hotmail.com for more information.
