Inspiring Conversations, Bold Visions & Community-Focused Leadership

Our latest instalment of “An Audience With…” event, in Partnership with DYW Moray, welcomed Jenny Urquhart, Chair of the Board for the Elgin Neighbourhood Plan.
With £20 million set to be invested in Elgin over the next decade, Jenny is at the heart of leading this exciting transformation. She shared her vision for the future of the town, the challenges and opportunities ahead, and how community input is shaping the plan every step of the way.
During the live Q&A, Jenny tackled questions around community engagement, sustainability, investment priorities, and long-term impact, offering transparent, practical insights grounded in experience. Her passion for collaborative development and her commitment to placing local voices at the centre of the planning process were clear highlights.

Jenny is Vice-Chair and a fourth-generation family owner of Johnstons of Elgin, the UK’s leading and largest luxury textiles manufacturer to work purely with natural fibres. The company employs over 1,000 people in Scotland at their two mills.
From establishing the company’s first online shop in 2005, to formalising the rare textile manufacturing skills into nationally accredited apprenticeship qualifications, Jenny has been given and created many opportunities for the company and its community. In 2019 she became the first woman to Chair the Board in Johnstons of Elgin’s 226 year history.
Jenny is a Past Vice President of the Royal Warrant Holder’s Association, a Trustee of the Royal Warrant Holders’ Charity, a Patron of ‘Friends of Dr Gray’s’ and an Honouree of the Walpole Power List 2024.
As ever, “An Audience With…” continues to serve as a platform where thought leadership meets real-world application and Jenny Urquhart’s session was no exception. Thanks to everyone who joined us, we’re already looking forward to the next event in the series. Keep an eye out for more updates!
