Become a Career Ready Mentor
11 August 2025 • Sarah Medcraf
Are you interested in supporting and mentoring a Young Person?
Take part in the Career Ready Programme in Moray by becoming a mentor for S5 and S6 pupils across Moray’s secondary schools and transform a young person's life.
This is a rewarding two-year programme where mentors are carefully matched with a local young person (aged 15–17) and meet regularly to help them build confidence, develop key skills, and prepare for life beyond school.
It’s also a fantastic professional development opportunity for staff who are looking to build or enhance their people management and support skills.
We’re now inviting expressions of interest from individuals or teams who would like to join the next cohort starting in September. A PVG check is provided free of charge, and a thorough matching process ensures mentors are paired with a young person aligned to their background, career and personal interests.
As part of the programme, you’ll also host a paid four-week work placement for your mentee midway through the journey.
If this sounds like something your organisation or team would be interested in, we’d love to hear from you over the next couple of weeks.

"Diageo are a proud supporter and funder of Career Ready, the social mobility charity, having been at the heart of their impact and growth for over a decade in Moray and across Scotland. As a long-term supporter of Career Ready, I’ve seen first-hand the transformational difference the programme of mentoring and a paid internship has on the lives of young people in Moray. It boosts their skills, grows their confidence, and helps them discover things that they never knew was possible in life – with 99% of school leavers on the programme going onto further or higher education, an apprenticeship, or other employment.
That’s why I’m encouraging you to get involved and become a Career Ready supporter, so that with you we can empower #1000Futures in Scotland by providing a young person in your local community with a mentor and paid internship in your organisation. A young person who, because of their background, doesn’t have access to the opportunities or support they need to achieve their potential.
You really can transform their future. And benefit your people and organisation."
