EDF POWER SOLUTIONS UK SEEKS APPLICATIONS FOR ITS 2026 APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

27 January 2026 • Sarah Medcraf

EDF power solutions UK is this week launching its 2026 apprenticeship scheme, offering young people from across the country the opportunity to take their first step on the renewable energy career ladder.

There is an open call for applications for various apprenticeships. This includes wind turbine technician apprenticeships, based at the following locations: Huntly, Aberdeenshire; Livingston; Durham and Goole and a SCADA technician apprentice in Sunderland. In additional we are also opening an application for a business administration apprentice based in Durham.

The wind turbine technician apprentices will undertake a 36-month programme combining hands-on experience with structured learning, giving them the foundational principles of engineering before they specialise in wind turbine maintenance.

As the safety of people and the environment is EDF power solutions UK’s number one priority, the first task for apprentices will be completing a five-day training course, where they will be put through their paces to ensure they can safely work on-site.

To complement their time at college, the wind turbine technician apprentices will also complete several work placements at operational sites, before going on to spend 12 to 18 months working full-time alongside EDF power solutions UK teams.

The business administration apprentice and SCADA technician apprentice will also complete several work placements across departments throughout their 36-months, learning practical elements of the job with significant opportunities to develop a wide range of transferable skills.

The business administration apprentice will achieve a level 5 qualification with the opportunity to continue learning to level 6 while the SCADA technician apprentice will have the chance to achieve a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering and a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship.

Successful applicants will start their programmes in September.

Piero Maggio, Asset Operations Director at EDF power solutions UK, said: “We’re delighted to continue our apprenticeship scheme alongside the introduction of specialist areas like SCADA management business administration and, which offers a fantastic entry route into the high-growth renewables market.

“Our scheme gives recruits the opportunity to learn about the latest cutting-edge technologies, before applying that knowledge in real-world scenarios, working on-site alongside our established and experienced teams.”

Stephanie Bouchard-Saliba, Chief People Officer at EDF power solutions UK, said: “This apprenticeship scheme is a fantastic opportunity for young people to start their careers in the renewable energy industry, gaining valuable skills in their area.

“Our apprentices are an integral part of our business from day one, bringing fresh insight and perspectives and play an important role. We look forward to welcoming them into our open and inclusive culture and seeing them progress.”
