ARTISTRY IN OAK: GORDON & MACPHAIL RELEASE WORLD’S OLDEST SINGLE MALT - AN 85-YEAR-OLD GLENLIVET

Scotch whisky house Gordon & MacPhail has unveiled what it calls the world’s oldest single malt, an 85-year-old Glenlivet named Artistry in Oak.

The whisky was distilled in 1940 and matured for 85 years in a single sherry cask before being bottled earlier this year. Only 125 decanters will be released, each priced at £125,000.

The decanter design, created by acclaimed U.S. architect Jeanne Gang, reflects the themes of time, craft, and endurance. The first bottle will be auctioned at Christie’s New York in November, with proceeds benefiting the conservation charity American Forests.

At 43.7% ABV, Artistry in Oak offers notes of dried fruits, citrus, aged leather, and spice - a rare taste of history that bridges generations of whisky making.
