Family-owned Scotch whisky specialist, Gordon & MacPhail, has raised a total of £13,141.65 for Erskine Veteran’s Charity as part of the organisation’s commitment to supporting the local community.
The organisation was nominated by Gordon & MacPhail colleagues to be the company’s chosen charity partner for 2025, as a result of the important work it does in the region to support veterans.
Caring for over 1,200 Veterans each year, Erskine provides social, recreation and training facilities through its two Activity Centres, alongside accommodation and employment opportunities.
Supporting Veterans of all ages in the North of Scotland, the charity’s Activity Centre in Forres, Moray, allows ex-service people to connect with likeminded individuals, learn new skills and find renewed purpose after their service.
Every year, Gordon & MacPhail selects a charity partner from those nominated by its colleagues, arranging several fundraising initiatives throughout the year to raise money and continue to give back to the local community.
Among the creative fundraising efforts of the team this year was a Firewalk, Beast Race and Dramathon. Alongside this, Gordon & MacPhail colleagues participated in a range of activities including golf days, bake sales, fly fishing, charity whisky tastings and more.
With many of the team personally invested in supporting Erskine, a significant number of colleagues volunteered their time to support Erskine at local events, from bucket collections at MacMoray Festival through to manning stands at Armed Forces Day and Motorfun Day at Cooper Park. The Erskine team also hosted a corporate day at Benromach Distillery, Forres, inviting businesses to learn more about the charity and current partnership.
Jodie Clayton, HR Buisness Partner and Charity Lead at Gordon & MacPhail, said:
“Our annual charity partnership is special to everyone in our team, with all colleagues given a chance to vote for their chosen charity. This year, the votes were unanimously for Erskine, in recognition of the incredible difference the charity makes to so many veterans, their families and the wider community.
“Through a range of activities our team has raised over £13,000 and been able to make a difference first-hand, through volunteering with Erskine at its Forres base. We’re honoured to be able to play even a small role in helping Erskine continue providing its invaluable services across the Moray area.”
Michael Parkes, Fundraising & Development Manager, Erskine Veteran’s Charity, said:
“A huge thank you to Gordon & MacPhail for their incredibly kind support over the past twelve months. From car washes to collections and bake sales to the Beast Race, we are so proud and grateful for the whole team’s commitment to our veterans. £13,141.65 is a phenomenal total, which will help the Erskine Veterans Activity Centre North continue to make a life-changing and life-saving difference to hundreds of veterans across Moray and beyond.”
