Law firm Harper Macleod has promoted seven lawyers across its Inverness and Elgin offices. This includes two legal directors, three associates and two senior solicitors.
The two new legal directors are:
- Angus Brown, Dispute Resolution, Inverness
- Grant Hassan, Family, Inverness
The three new associates are:
- Gillian Maciver, Private Client, Inverness
- Nicole Walker, Rural Property, Inverness
- Will Davidson, Residential Property, Elgin
The two new senior solicitors are:
- Jaqueline Day, Family, Elgin
- Laura Cantwell, Commercial Real Estate, Elgin
Harper Macleod’s focus on its people is being increasingly recognised across the North of Scotland through leading accreditations and employer initiatives.
In March, it became the first law firm to receive the Highland Employer Charter Gold accreditation for its commitment to sustained investment in fair pay, workforce development and the local economy. The Charter places a clear focus on supporting Highland communities and creating long-term employment opportunities in the region.
Alongside this, the firm’s longstanding Investors in People and Investors in Young People re-accreditations demonstrate a continuous commitment to developing talent at every stage, from early careers onwards.
Further successes in the North include Partner, Laura McLean achieving a Law Society accreditation in Family Mediation, completing a hat trick of specialisms which also cover family law and child law. The firm’s North of Scotland team now has five lawyers who hold a total of eight accreditations, including Ewan Stafford who is the only employment law accredited specialist in the region.
Chris Kerr, Harper Macleod’s lead partner for the Highlands, Islands and Moray, said:
“With thanks always to the clients who choose to work with us, and the communities we work within, these seven well-deserved promotions demonstrate that we remain a place of opportunity for our colleagues across our firm Scotland-wide, and our North business locally. We’ve consistently shown that colleagues forge long, varied and fulfilling careers in the Highlands and Moray.
“The strength and continued growth of our presence in the North of Scotland highlights that we are serious about building genuinely collaborative and supportive working environments. This is reflected in the people who choose to join, rejoin, and progress with us, and with an additional five new solicitors and a trainee solicitor appointed already this year, we continue to build depth across each of our practice areas, ensuring we deliver high-quality legal advice to clients and communities across the region.
“Our focus is not on scale for its own sake, but on consistently doing what we say we will do. Our track record of delivering for our clients in the Highlands and Moray is unrivalled.”
