Keith Community Radio receives The King’s Award for Voluntary Service

17 March 2026 • Sarah Medcraf

Keith Community Radio has been presented with The King’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2025 at a special event this weekend.

This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.

Recently celebrating their 28th birthday, the community radio station (KCR) broadcasts across the whole of Moray on 107.7FM and worldwide online at www.kcr.fm 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Run entirely by more than 70 volunteers, ranging from age 10 to over 80, there are currently 65 regular programmes with something to suit every listener’s taste – a wide range of all types of music and dialogue shows.

Keith Community Radio is one of 231 local charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups who received the prestigious award on the Kings birthday.

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service aims to recognise outstanding work by local volunteer groups to support their communities. It was created in 2002 to celebrate Her Late Majesty The Queen’s Golden Jubilee and was continued following the accession of His Majesty The King. 2025 marks the third year of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service.  Recipients are announced annually on 14th November, The King’s Birthday.
