A recent memorial football match has taken Moray Mental Health FC’s fundraising total for mental health and suicide prevention charity Mikeysline to more than £11,000.
Founded in 2023 following the loss of a close friend, Moray Mental Health FC uses the power of football to bring people together in a safe, non-judgemental environment where they can keep active, meet like-minded people and talk openly about their mental wellbeing.
The club’s long running partnership with Mikesyline is a powerful example of how community-led action in Moray can make a real difference, helping to raise awareness, reduce stigma and encourage people to seek support when they need it.
The recent Charlie Tull Legacy Tournament, an annual event brought players, families, supporters and members of the local community together in memory of Charlie, while raising funds that will help Mikeysline continue to provide confidential support to people across Moray and the Highlands.
Mikeysline’s Operations Manager for Moray, Brogan Bowie, said: “We’re absolutely delighted by the incredible efforts of Moray Mental Health FC to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide. Creating spaces where people feel they can talk openly and without judgement is so important to changing the narrative, and we are grateful for their continued support.”
Founded in 2015 following the loss of close friends Martin Shaw and Michael Williamson, Mikeysline was created to ensure that nobody facing emotional distress would feel alone. Today, the charity provides a range of support services across the Highlands, Islands and Moray, including text, phone and in-person support.
In Moray, Mikeysline also provides in-person support through its bi-weekly Elgin Hive, offering a welcoming space where people can access one-to-one support, take time out and speak to someone in a safe, confidential setting.
Mikeysline is open to people of all ages and genders, 365 days a year. If you need someone to talk to, please reach out:
