Online Portal Launched to Link Moray with Local Businesses

11 September 2025 • Sarah Medcraf

MORAY COUNCIL HAS DEVELOPED A NEW ONLINE TOOL TO HELP LOCAL COMMUNITY GROUPS LINK UP WITH BUSINESSES DELIVERING CONTRACTS FOR THE COUNCIL

The portal will allow community organisations and groups to post requests for support, such as volunteer time, materials, or professional expertise which suppliers working with the council can then choose to deliver.

The aim is to make sure Moray communities see benefits when companies are awarded public contracts. This could mean anything from a contractor providing surplus building materials to a local project, to a business offering staff time to support community events or share specialist knowledge.

The initiative is part of the council’s Community Wealth Building strategy, which focuses on keeping the benefits of local investment within Moray, boosting the economy and strengthening communities.

A new Community Wealth Building Officer, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, has been appointed to promote the portal, help groups submit requests, and connect them with suppliers.

Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr Marc Macrae, said:

“This new portal is about making connections, matching the needs of our local groups with the skills and resources of businesses delivering contracts in Moray. It’s a simple but powerful way to make sure investment in Moray delivers real and lasting benefits for our communities.”

The portal was designed with input from local communities and businesses and developed by social enterprise CEIS. It will be marketed widely to ensure community groups know how to use it and suppliers are aware of their opportunities to contribute.
The portal will officially launch in mid-September 2025 and will be open to all community groups and third sector organisations across Moray.
