We were delighted to welcome Stephen Leckie, President of Scottish Chambers of Commerce to Moray today. Stephen met with Moray Chamber Directors at Johnston's of Elgin, to discuss the pressing issues of the region's businesses. CE, Sarah Medcraf praised the growth of the Moray economy whilst highlighting the struggles and tough trading conditions businesses are currently facing. Stephen acknowledged the hard work of the Chamber in the connective and togetherness piece that the Chamber provides, ensuring the inclusivity and representation of our Members.

Stephen Leckie, who is also chairman and chief executive of the Crieff Hydro said it is vital for the economic recovery to get people back working in offices again to help local businesses such as cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. However, there are big challenges – such as rising costs and the staff recruitment and retention difficulties faced by many firms – and tackling them needs a strong partnership. A similar approach is required to strengthen connectivity and make sure the region is fully able to share in the benefits of economic recovery.
