Moray’s Dorenell Ranger Service unveils its 2024 summer events programme

23 May 2024 • Sarah Medcraf

Dorenell Ranger Service is launching its summer events programme giving people of all ages the opportunity to learn about the natural and cultural heritage in and around Moray over the coming months.

The Ranger Service, which last year engaged with over 500 adults and children across the area through its activities, is based at Dorenell Visitor Centre in the Cabrach, Moray and is run by one of Scotland’s leading developers of renewable energy, EDF Renewables UK.

The 2024 events programme features many favourites from last year’s schedule, including mini beast hunts and walking tours in addition to new opportunities to learn about the natural habitat and the work the Ranger Service is doing to enhance the environment and wildlife. Activities will include crafts workshops, family cycles and scenic walks as part of Moray Walking Festival. The programme runs alongside the weekly health walks that the Rangers host.

These engaging events will unfold near the Visitor Centre, located near Dufftown and Dorenell wind farm site, which was commissioned in March 2019. The wind farm features 59 turbines generating 177MW of clean, green energy.

Stephen Reeves, Senior Ranger at Dorenell Visitor Centre, which last year was awarded a 4-Star attraction award from Visit Scotland, commented: “We are excited to once again be launching a comprehensive events programme for the coming months and can’t wait to welcome people from right across the area of all ages to the visitor centre and to our various events.

“Our events provide the ideal opportunity to learn more about our activities and about the wildlife and natural environment in the area – and complements the work we do throughout the rest of the year to engage with local communities and schools.”

The events full events programme can be found at Dorenell Visitor Centre - EDF Renewables (edf-re.uk).
