New Gin Distillery Proposed for Elgin

Ambitious Elgin based gin distiller, Avva Scottish Gin, is preparing for growth. Proposals include new premises, increased production and expanded retail activities including a visitor centre.

As well as enabling increased production the proposals will lead to the development of a new Moray Gin distillery visitor centre, adding to the area’s visitor offer and creating new jobs.

The company recently submitted a planning application to Moray Council detailing plans for a new building at Elgin Business Park to support the exciting growth plans.

Managing Director and founder of Avva Scottish Gin, Jill Brown, said:

“Our range of award-winning gins are distilled in small batches and bottled by hand on site. We distil slowly, using carefully selected Speyside and Highland botanicals to produce our range.

“In 2021 we opened a small retail area and began hosting Gin Tasting Tours. The response was tremendous, rising gin sales, and sold-out tours. With our proposed new building we will be able to offer year-round tasting tours and open a visitor centre.

“We are very proud to distil on the UK’s first Scottish made Gin still, which was hand-crafted by the team at Speyside Copperworks right here in Elgin. It’s unique. Visitors will be invited to delve into the mysteries of this very special still and our distilling process. They will see the great care we take over every batch and bottling and round off their visit with a hosted tasting.

“We anticipate welcoming the first visitors to our new centre in early Winter 2022.”

Gin Tasting Tours will be re-opening at the distiller’s existing premises, 10 Chanonry Road North, Elgin from 25th March – bookings can be made at
