Parklands wins national wellbeing award

29 May 2025 • Sarah Medcraf

Parklands Care Homes has won the Best for Wellbeing award at the national Care Home Awards, recognising its commitment to supporting the emotional, social and physical wellbeing of its residents.

The award submission highlighted a wide range of initiatives across Parklands’ 12 care homes, including the Keith Cares Club partnership between Glenisla and Weston View, Speyside’s pop-up tea room, Urray House’s Parent and Toddler group and Eilean Dubh’s weekly ‘Tea and Tots’ playgroup – all designed to build meaningful connections and reduce social isolation.

Examples of creative engagement included the Heart Strings Choir at Speyside and the award-winning gardening club at Eilean Dubh, which became the first care home to compete in the Black Isle Show.

Parklands also highlighted its work on digital storytelling, including the Carecast podcast, and more recently its VE Day commemorative podcast. The submission also cited Parklands’ support for employee wellbeing through a Mental Health First Aid training programme, and its charity partnerships with Highland Hospice and Mikeysline.

Jacqui Ferguson, Quality Improvement Lead at Parklands Care Homes, said: “We’re delighted to receive this national recognition. It reflects the dedication of our staff, who work every day to ensure our residents feel valued, included and supported in doing the things they love. Wellbeing is central to how we care, and this award is a tribute to everyone across the Parklands group who helps make that possible.”

Parklands operates homes across the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire, caring for nearly 450 residents and employing 860 staff.
