Scottish Apprenticeship Week - February 29th - March 4th 2016 Scottish Apprenticeship Week - February 29th - March 4th 2016
The Moray Economic Partnership is supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week – and this is your chance to get involved. Organised by Skills Development Scotland (SDS), the campaign highlights the commitment of businesses that have decided to invest in the skills of their workforce. It also showcases the successes of apprentices who have chosen to get a job, get paid and get qualified to develop their careers. The campaign offers you the chance to find out more about Modern Apprenticeships or showcase the benefits apprentices have brought to your business. Moray Economic Development Partnership wants businesses, industry, colleges, councils, training providers and those with a shared interest in the success of Modern Apprenticeships from across the region to support the week and encourage many more employers to take on apprentices. The week sees events and activity across the country, so there’s no better time to highlight your role in supporting apprenticeships. How can you get involved? Thought about employing Modern Apprentices but not sure what do next? Keen to find out more about financial support towards apprenticeships? Want to know about the real business benefits apprentices can bring to your company? You are invited to our Modern Apprenticeship Employer Event Come to the Modern Apprenticeship Employer Event for expert advice about funding; how to recruit an apprentice; different types of apprenticeships that could benefit your business and support services. This is also an opportunity to find out about new Foundation Apprenticeships – which allow school pupils to start apprenticeships in the classroom and the Scottish Government’s blueprint for youth employment - Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce Moray College UHI Alexander Graham Bell Centre Wednesday 2 March 9am – 10am Modern Apprenticeships Showcase A showcase to coincide with the school/college links programme where young people are already on Moray College UHI campus taking vocational courses and some are likely to be the Modern Apprentices of the future. We would like to invite interested businesses and Training Providers to attend and bring a Modern Apprentice to speak directly to the young people about their job and training. Moray College UHI Alexander Graham Bell Centre Wednesday 2 March 10am – 2pm Modern Apprenticeships: Meet the Parents Parents are a major influence in a young person’s career choice. We intended to hold an Open Evening so that parents can get information on the benefits of Modern Apprenticeships first-hand. Parents will be able to meet local employers and Training Providers, along with staff from the SDS Careers Information Advice and Guidance service based in schools across Moray and the SDS employer engagement team. Again, we would welcome your business or Training Provider attending. Skills Development Scotland 232 High Street, Elgin Wednesday 2nd March 5-7 pm Meet future Modern Apprentices Your chance to inspire the next generation of apprentices and highlight your business in the local community. We would like to organise for at least one employer to visit each of the eight secondary schools in Moray. Modern Apprentices and employers can talk to the young people, answer questions and explain what an MA can offer in terms of having a job, getting paid, and getting qualified. We would be grateful of any employer or Training Provider support for this type of engagement.
