Shaping the Future of Grant Lodge
30 May 2025 • Sarah Medcraf
We’re delighted to invite you to take part in shaping the future interpretive strategy of this important building.
The Cultural Quarter design team will be hosting a series of three one-hour collaborative workshops at Elgin Community Centre between 11am-2pm (session details below) and would be delighted if you could attend for as little or as long as you like. These sessions are informal and we also welcome drop-in attendance. At the beginning of each hour there will be a short presentation on the project and the aims and objectives of the day. No matter what time you arrive you will have the opportunity to share your views across the three themes of People, Place and Stories.
These workshops are an opportunity to hear your insights and ideas as we explore how Grant Lodge can best reflect and share the rich heritage of the area through its interpretation. They will all cover the People, Places, and Stories of Elgin and Moray. The workshops will be facilitated by Lateral North, the exhibition designers working alongside Page \ Park Architects as part of the Grant Lodge Design Team.
If you're unable to attend but would still like to contribute, just reply to this email or contact michaela@laterlanorth.com and we’ll share a digital version of the workshop with you.
If you have any questions about the sessions, venue or how to get here please contact Alison.Wall@moray.gov.uk

Moray Council and The Grant Lodge Trust are making plans to bring category B Grant Lodge back into use as part of the Moray Growth Deal Cultural Quarter Project. Once complete, this restored historic venue will unlock the potential of Cooper Park and Elgin’s historic centre as a key destination for local people and visitors alike. The proximity to the cathedral, museum, and other attractions will make Grant Lodge a thriving heritage, tourism and social hub, signposting visitors to places of interest in Elgin and beyond. Grant Lodge will become a gateway to the region and a place to gather for occasions of all kinds. The stories of Moray will be woven throughout the building, maximising Grant Lodge’s setting to become a place of arrival, gathering, and journeying on - shining a light on Moray’s unique, historic and contemporary offering whilst returning the building to the heart of the community.
