Small Producers Pilot Fund

16 December 2025 • Sarah Medcraf

HIE HAS LAUNCHED THE SMALL PRODUCERS PILOT FUND, A NEW CAPITAL GRANT PROGRAMME SUPPORTING ORGANISATIONS BASED IN THE HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS THAT WORK WITH GROUPS OF SMALL FOOD AND DRINK PRODUCERS.

The fund offers £10,000 - £50,000 (which could cover up to 100% of total cost) for capital projects that strengthen the small producer support sector - for example through equipment purchases, shared facilities, premises upgrades, installation works or other infrastructure that benefits multiple producers.

Projects must contribute to one or more key outcomes, such as increasing innovation and productivity, improving collaboration, strengthening local supply chains, or supporting sustainable food and drink production.

Who is eligible?

Organisations or SMEs that provide services or benefits to multiple small producers. Applicants must be based in the Highlands and Islands and able to evidence the benefit provided across their producer network.

Important details:
•    Capital costs only (no revenue).
•    It’s a quick turnaround - all projects must be fully complete and claimed by 10 March 2026.
•    Planning permissions (if required) must be secured before submitting an EOI.
•    Funding is competitive and limited - with a maximum of 17 awards expected.

If you think this could support your plans, the first step is to submit a short Expression of Interest by 12 noon, 9 January 2026.

You can find full details and the EOI form on the HIE website here: https://www.hie.co.uk/sppf
