Speyside care home steps up for Mikeysline

25 August 2025 • Sarah Medcraf

Residents and staff at Speyside Care Home in Aberlour have begun a month-long challenge, walking and wheeling a 'Mile for Mikeysline' to shine a spotlight on mental health.

The initiative is part of Parklands Care Homes’ partnership with Mikeysline, the Highland-based mental health and suicide prevention charity, which marks its 10th anniversary this year.

Earlier this year, Parklands’ Moray teams selected Mikeysline as their chosen charity partner.

By taking part, residents and staff at Speyside Care Home hope to raise awareness of Mikeysline’s vital work and raise funds to support its services.

A fundraising page has been set up to support this and other challenges – givewheel.com/fundraising/7087/parklands-care-homes/

Louise Gillies, manager of Speyside, said: “By walking and wheeling a Mile for Mikeysline, we hope to raise awareness of mental health and support a charity that provides a vital lifeline to people across the region. The message is simple but powerful: it’s ok not to be ok.”

Mikeysline offers a range of services to support people experiencing emotional distress, including a text line, WhatsApp support, webchat, and face-to-face drop-in sessions. Visit mikeysline.co.uk for more information.
