A Moray care home has improved its Care Inspectorate rating for residents’ wellbeing to Very Good.
Weston View in Keith achieved Grade 5 for wellbeing, up from Grade 4 (Good) at its previous inspection.
Part of the Parklands Care Homes group since 2023, Weston View is home to 40 residents and employs a team of 100.
The Care Inspectorate visited Weston View over two days, speaking with residents, relatives, staff and management. The report identified “significant strengths in aspects of the care provided”. Residents praised the care they received, telling inspectors that “nothing was too much trouble” for care staff.
Inspectors noted that staff took time to understand residents’ individual needs and preferences, building trusting relationships and ensuring they received the care and support they wanted.
The report also found that “people’s days were full and meaningful”, with activities shaped by residents’ preferences. Smaller group activities had been introduced in response to feedback, while residents who preferred to spend time in their rooms were supported to pursue their interests.
The home’s approach to supporting mobility and independence was also recognised. Walking aids were kept within reach, helping residents move around independently. Inspectors found that careful monitoring of falls had identified the need for an additional member of staff overnight, resulting in a significant reduction in falls.
The report also confirmed that two areas for improvement identified at the previous inspection, relating to meaningful activities and the use of living spaces, had been addressed.
Leanne Stephen, manager of Weston View, said: “I’m delighted that the team’s hard work and dedication have been recognised by the Care Inspectorate. This report reflects their commitment to residents and the strong relationships they build with families.
“A key message throughout the report is that we listen to our residents. It is their home, after all, and it’s important that we act on their feedback to help them enjoy life to the full.
“Everyone plays a part in delivering good care, from our care staff and cooks to our domestic, wellbeing and maintenance teams. Achieving a Very Good rating for residents’ wellbeing is something the whole team can be proud of.”
With Weston View's improved rating, 11 of Parklands' 13 care homes are now rated Grade 5 (Very Good) for supporting residents' wellbeing.
Jacqui Ferguson, Operations Director at Parklands Care Homes, said: “We are constantly working to improve care standards across our homes, and we’re delighted that Weston View joins the majority of our homes in being rated Very Good for supporting residents’ wellbeing.
“This is a credit to the team, but we know there is always more we can do. We are determined to build on this progress and keep raising standards across the group.”
